We’re gearing up for Round 2, and your role as marshals is crucial. Here’s a rundown of what you need to know. The full brief is linked to our website for your convenience.
Attendance
If you can’t make it, please inform the race director on 07484 723122. Check the list below to see if you’re needed. We’re on a tight budget, so please only show up if your name is on the list.
Location and Venue Information
All venue-specific information can be found in the race information booklet. Our meeting point is Ysgol Cwm Gwyddon, Ystad Ddiwydiannol Tywysog Cymru, Cwmcarn, NP11 5AR. A course map will be provided on the day.
Rider Behaviour
You’re more important than the riders. Any abuse will not be tolerated. If you experience any issues, note the rider's details and inform your start marshal. We will always back our marshals.
Timings for Sunday Volunteers
- 0800: Meet and collect equipment
- 0830: Briefing
- 0900: Placement
- 1000-1600: Racing
Expenses
Volunteer expenses will be paid via bank transfer the Friday after the event. Ensure you provide the Chief Marshal with your bank or PayPal details.
Your Specific Responsibilities
- Stay free from alcohol and drugs. Consumption of illegal substances or alcohol will result in no expense payment and you’ll be asked to leave.
- Inform the Chief Marshal of any medical condition or impediment that might affect your duties.
- Manage spectators and riders.
- Ensure spectators stay off the course.
- Inform riders of accidents or dangers using red flags.
- Report or repair any course or tape damage ASAP.
- Request medics when needed.
- Report incidents, rule infractions, or unsportsmanlike behaviour to the stage manager, noting the rider’s number.
- Help clear the course of rubbish, tape, and signage after the event.
Equipment We Supply
- High visibility vest (must be worn at all times on the course)
- Radio & if needed, marshal flags
- Bin bag for tape and area clearing
Equipment You MUST Bring
- Waterproofs (top and bottom)
- Suitable footwear with ankle protection (no trainers)
- Insect repellent
- Spare clothes
- Chair if needed
- All the food and hydration you need (flask, water, sandwiches, etc.)
- Suggested: equipment to keep you comfortable (chairs, fishing shelters, etc.)
